SDI-12 Interface – RAK13010

The RAK13010, part of the WisBlock Interface Series, expands the WisBlock system with an SDI-12 communication module. SDI-12 (Serial Digital Interface at 1200 baud) is an asynchronous serial communication protocol designed for intelligent sensors in environmental monitoring.

The module operates with a 3-wire bus (SDI-12_12V, SDI-12_DATA, GND) that supports bidirectional communication in a master-slave configuration. The data logger acts as the master, while multiple sensors function as slaves on the bus.

The RAK13010 converts commands and data between UART and SDI-12. It features a built-in 12 V supply (up to 300 mA) for powering sensors but also offers the option to use an external 12 V supply if required.

With its compact size (25 mm x 35 mm), operating voltage of VBAT and 3.3 V, and a wide operating temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C, the RAK13010 is an excellent choice for battery-powered IoT and outdoor applications.
