The RAK12054 Encoder Sensor, part of the WisBlock Sensor Series, uses the Osram AS5600 magnetic rotary position sensor to measure the absolute angle of a diametrically magnetized on-axis magnet without contact.
By default, it measures a full 0° to 360° range, but via the I²C interface, the start angle (zero position) and maximum angle (stop position) can be easily programmed, supporting a range from 18° to 360°.
The contactless design ensures long-lasting, maintenance-free operation. The integrated low-power mode automatically reduces energy consumption, making it well-suited for battery-powered IoT devices. The DIR input pin allows users to set the counting direction:
DIR connected to GND → Clockwise counting
DIR connected to VDD → Counterclockwise counting
