The RAK12027 Earthquake Sensor, powered by the Omron D7S chip, is the world’s smallest high-precision seismic sensor. It provides accurate seismic data and includes an alarm output that triggers when an earthquake intensity of 5 or higher on the JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) Seismic Intensity Scale is detected. It also features collapse detection through horizontal tilt monitoring.

Product Description Technical Details

The RAK12027 Earthquake Sensor, part of the WisBlock Sensor Series, integrates the Omron D7S, a highly accurate seismic sensor. Communication with the target microcontroller is via the I²C interface and interrupt pins, ensuring reliable data transfer and immediate alerting.

When an earthquake occurs with an intensity equivalent to 5 or higher on the JMA Seismic Intensity Scale, the shutoff output (INT1) is activated, allowing sensitive equipment to automatically power down. The sensor also includes a collapse detection function, triggering when the sensor tilts more than 20 degrees, indicating a potential structural collapse.

With its compact size of 10 x 23 mm, 3.3 V power supply, and low power consumption, the RAK12027 is designed for battery-powered IoT solutions and easy integration into monitoring systems.
