RAK4631 WisBlock Core Module – LoRaWAN® & BLE (nRF52840 + SX1262)

The RAK4631 WisBlock Core is a compact, high-performance wireless module that integrates the Nordic nRF52840 MCU with Semtech’s SX1262 LoRa® transceiver, enabling BLE 5.0 + LoRaWAN® connectivity in a single unit. Designed for low-power, long-range communication, it is perfect for battery or solar-powered IoT applications such as sensor networks, home automation, remote monitoring, and smart agriculture.

Compared to previous generations, the SX1262 provides significant improvements in power efficiency and extended communication range — transmitting up to +22 dBm and achieving a link budget up to 170 dB. The module’s TCXO (temperature-controlled crystal oscillator) ensures reliable RF performance across wide temperature and bandwidth conditions.

The RAK4631 supports multiple interfaces, including UART, I2C, SPI, USB, and GPIO, and is compatible with WisBlock Base modules for easy expansion. Two firmware options are available:

RAK4631 (Arduino) for development with the Arduino IDE or PlatformIO

RAK4631-R (RUI3) for use with Milesight’s RUI3 SDK or AT command interface

You can switch firmware freely, as both versions share identical hardware.

With ultra-low sleep power consumption (as low as 2 μA) and wide operating voltage (2.0–3.6 V), this module is engineered for high-efficiency IoT designs. The compact 20 × 30 mm form factor and full support for LoRaWAN 1.0.2 and LoRa P2P protocols make the RAK4631 one of the most versatile LoRa® modules available.
